Snow Day with Alexes & Paris

Kids, Snow & Photography

I woke up this morning to about 10 inches of snow, maybe 6, I don't know i guess 10 inches may make this post sound more fantastic; just like my day was today. My wife is currently in Mexico on a well deserved vacation with her best friend for her 30th birthday, so I've been on daddy duty.

For the few years of being blessed with our kids, she's always the one that's on top of her game on days like this. Snow boots! double socks! gloves! hot cocoa! and all the nice things any kid would need to make a snow day out of school a blast. Well, by now you must have figured that i am the workaholic Dad, thats never at anything :-( . Okay i'm a really nice guy, but I'm just not good at those fine details, mainly because I have a wife who's on top of it everyday and every time. I know, I know I'm working on it!

Well, today was awesome! I had such a good time playing with the kids in the snow. I actually felt bummed when my son started complaining that his toes were freezing and this meant we had to leave. I thought to myself like,.. Really ??? At this point i still had about 40 minutes of snow ball throwing, ducking and diving left in me. I was like a big kid again.

With my SLR camera and lens hanging down my neck, I was still invincible to all their attacks, and was able to deliver some precise hits of compact snow ball pitching action. We were at hendrix college, it was change of class period, and I could see students looking at us.

You know the saying "dance like no one is watching?" Right! we were doing something similar; "Rolling and diving in the snow like no one was watching." We were completely unaware that we were generating a small crowd of laughing college students. I couldn't tell if they were laughing at a 239 pound guy strapped with a camera and lens that clearly weighed about 16 extra pounds, or Just simply laughing at how I was getting the better of my kids in this rare and epic snowball fight. Whichever one it was, we were clearly making a spectacle. I felt like I was making a fool out of myself, but I enjoyed every second of it. So Enjoy the Photos, and sadly back to work for me until after midnight.

Paris and Alexes Posing for the first few shots we took

Then they got some Solos

And then the first snow ball fight ensued

Paris sneaking up on Alexes

Just a few feet from her and he misses emphatically. Definitely not trying out for baseball

Alexes trying to hit back

Paris seeks cover behind a tree

Now they're playing Hide & Seek

Got Em!!

Cartwheel Break

Its now Paris's turn to count and Alexes to hide

Paris gets hit again!

And again,...That definitely rules out Dodgeball

Glad She did not plan on hitting paris with that

Enjoy your Kids! It could make a tough day pretty easy!

Stay Blessed!
